Reaganing

Though my house is a disaster and my feet are acing like crazy from standing all day attempting to clean said house, pack for an out of state wedding that we leave for tomorrow, while also entertaining a one year old... I had a pretty amazing day.

That one year old is pretty much the reason why my day was amazing.  Every day she amazes me a little more than the day before, but today was special.  As Jack Donaghy would say, she was "Reaganing," other wise known as "a magic zone of error-free living."  She took baby doll's to potty on numerous occasions today (which is her subtle way of telling me she also needs to potty). She communicated she wanted some snacks with our previously agreed upon sign (finger pointed to hand).  She signed that she wanted more banana (ASL for "more").  And I kid you not, she said "Tank Too" after I gave her more banana!  I'm pretty sure that means Thank You, which is pretty crazy because no one has taught her to say that, I think she has just picked it up from us.  She also started using the ASL sign for "milk," and waved and said bye to her daddy as he went off to work.  Oh and she kissed him before he left... not the head-butt/slober of the past but an actual "Mmmmmuah" on the cheek!  I'm pretty blessed that I got several of those throughout the day as well.
I'd say she has randomly done all of those things a few times before, but all in one day?!

She did several things like trying to put her shoes on her baby, me and herself.  (a great lesson on too big, too small, just right!)  She took out all the contents of the bottom cabinets in the kitchen (that's not new) but then put it all back! (that IS new!)  She brought me the remote to watch TV (OH that one stung a little- we've been having the olympics on a lot lately, we got to get out of this couch potato phase soon).  Then there was just a lot of cuddling happening today in general.  Really, the list of things Adelaide accomplished today is pretty extensive so I should stop going on.

I love how she is becoming such a "person."  Meaning- she has personality and she is doing tasks and figuring things out in this world.  I love that I get to watch her life just start to unfold.  It is truly a beautiful thing.

So she just went to sleep for the night, and I look around and think, this would be a great time to finish packing and clean up the house before our 3pm departure to Oklahoma tomorrow... but I'm zonked!  I need my sleep if I'm going to keep up with this little girl.

Last week when we were watching the opening to the olympics,
Chris noticed she was marching back and forth like athletes on TV,
So he made flags for the two of them to march around the living room with.
What a great guy.
One more thing.  This day would not have been amazing without one particular person.  Must give my shout out to my lovely husband who has been making breakfast WITH coffee every morning for the past couple weeks AND coming home and cooking dinner!  I am so glad to be married to someone who is supportive of me and so loving to me and our daughter.

  1. Sounds like she's really taking to sign language! Greyson does "more", "please", "thank you", and has started to do "sorry" (mostly because he's been doing more that he needs to apologize for lately!).

We started with having him say "more" when he wanted more food or milk because it was so much nicer than him screaming at us because he didn't know any other way to communicate.

  2. So true! We started at about 6 months but she really hasn't started doing it till a few weeks ago. I'm glad we kept at it!
