Jackson Hole/Grand Tetons/Yellowstone

Look!

gotta enjoy the view

We got Adelaide to take this picture... what? No, she's asleep in the jeep, and we used a timer!

Unpacking the jeep

My husband is such a good packer.  This is our cooking box!

Waking up from a great restful night

She loves sharing her water

Pretty impressive that she can actually drink out of a camelback bottle.

Her love language is nose biting I think.

She is cracking up

now he is cracking up!

Word of the week: WATER (WAWA)

Favorite toys- stroller, potty and rocks.  Makes for a great game of gathering rocks into stroller and then taking them to the potty for proper storage??

Medici Coffee in Wyoming... ahhhh.

Going to gather more rocks

She got pretty far while mom and dad sat and drank their coffee.

He taught her to throw rocks in the water.

Yup this will likely embarrass her some day... my parents took loads of these kinda pictures of me on our many trips from Louisiana to Indiana.

Checking out the elk.

Oh my gosh, we were so excited to see her pick up a book on her own and start quietly "reading"

This is the next scene.  Like many people, such as her dad and me, she gets sick when she reads in the car.

"Thanks for taking care of my car seat dad"

Monster baby nap time.

What is he doing?
Protecting our food from bears by putting it in the car seat and stringing it up!

Buckets make for fun for kids who love stacking things and collecting things.

These are so cool to me

Love this beautiful hotel at Old Faithful.

Sweet slow shutter shot

She eventually got about waist deep, but she had so much fun doing it!

These Yellowstone sights are just so amazing to me.

Beautiful grazing Bison

Rocks, Trees, Waterfall!  Or as she says it "RAH, EEE, WHA!"

Put a bird on it!

This guy rocks outdoor wear.

Hello little friend.

This picture would not be possible without 4 wheel drive!  32% grade with crazy rocks and bumps.  One day I'll get the video of that on youtube!

We all got a little tired this day so we started to head back south to Texas... via BEAUTIFUL UTAH!  That's right, another blog of photos coming soon!

Getting there is half the fun!

The driver

She looks happy to be getting started.

And a quick one of me before we leave the driveway!

I dangled toys from the roof for her to play with.  She didn't think this was as awesome as I did, so halfway through the trip I abandoned the idea.

She much prefers the front seat... very dangerous of course, so only when we are stopped!

We stopped at a lot of playgrounds.  Funny how the further away we got from Austin the more dangerous the playgrounds looked!  I didn't expect that.  This one in Plainview, Texas (west texas) looked much like the ones I grew up with.

stretching out the legs at the playground

Turtle ride

Taking a nap in the car after getting worn out at the playground.  We preferred traveling while she napped since she gets a little anxious in the carseat.  I mean, I get pretty anxious in my seat I can't imagine being so strapped down for hours!  Poor girl has no concept of "Just 50 more miles till the next stop!"

A fun new toy MiMi bought her for the ride.

Eating lunch on the car.  mmmm hummus and bananas!

This is the exit we just barely didn't get in a wreck in!  For some reason Chris was just a little slow to go at the green light as someone ran a red light and hit the car just to the right of us!  Now thats close!

A quick stop at the Denver Children's museum!  We got there just 20 minutes before closing, but we have a pass to all the major children's museums in the world so we had to stop by just to check it out.  She loved it!  Wish we could have gotten there earlier.

So cute!  Handing things out the window for her daddy to play with too.

ATVing at the park

This girl LOVES slides.  She can get up on them and slide down them all on her own now

Chris starts a game of hide and seek.

Found him!

oh auto timer on the camera makes for some interesting family pictures

Something more legit about an REI in a real out doors community.
(Come on, Austin's greenbelt does not constitute real outdoorsyness)

Most expensive hotel we stayed at was also the worst.  We were totally tired and just had to stop somewhere.  This Wyoming town was filled with hunters staying the night and so most places were booked and priceline wasn't available.  Makes for a fun story later!

We did not put potty training on hold just because we were on vacation!

He is so happy. :)

All of us are doing our own thing at the playground.

trying to put his hat on for him

looking in her bag of fun (random toys)

We made it!

I'm so happy!

Her first buffalo sighting!  (or were they bison?  I keep forgetting!)

Come on blogger!  This picture was suppose to be up there with the other museum pictures.  I wish I understood how to post a blog better!
So those are pictures from us getting to Jackson Hole!  I'll post the rest of the vacation at nap time! :)
